Generation of 3D coordinate information from pipe designs with complex bends is not an easy task. CAD Preprocessor is a new tool to automatically convert pipe designs in IGES format to XYZ or FPB (Feed, Plane, Bend) values.

It extracts the XYZ coordinates from pipe designs with uniform diameter and converts it to FPB. The generated values can be directly used in a pipe bending machine for pipe fabrication.

CAD Preprocessor reads and analyses pipe design files to find out bend parameters (XYZ or FPB) in 3D coordinates. Automatic parsing is supported only for regular cylindrical piping model. For those models with irregularities in surface, use Manual mode for extracting the bend information. Though CAD Preprocessor allows import of all kinds of IGS/IGES files, extraction of bend information is possible only for files containing single continuous cylindrical piping models.
